Foreigners applying for permanent residence in China abide by China's law, be in good health, have no criminal record, and meet at least one of the following requirements: 

(1) Be a direct investor in China, have been investing for at least three consecutive years, and keep good tax records; 

(2) have assumed the posts of deputy general manager or deputy director of plants or higher level of posts, or have the titles of associate professors, associate research fellows, or similar associate titles or above for four consecutive years, and the period of stay in accumulation is no shorter than three years, and keep good tax records; 

(3) have major and outstanding contributions to China, or a person urgently needed by China; 

(4) spouses and unmarried children under the age of 18 of foreigners mentioned in (1), (2), or (3); 

(5) spouses of Chinese citizens or spouses of foreigners with the permanent residence in China, whose marriage has lasted for at least five years, and who have lived in China for at least five consecutive years, and the stay in China each year is no shorter than nine months, and who have stable and secured living status and a fixed place of abode; 

(6) unmarried children under the age of 18 who come to China to live with their parents on the mainland; 

(7) foreigners who have no direct relatives abroad and come to China to live with the direct relatives in China, at or above the age of 60, and have lived in China for five consecutive years, and whose stay in China each year is no shorter than nine months and have stable and secured living status and a fixed place of abode.
